SUCCESS STORIES..

The following are just a few stories which comes to mind when thinking about The Biscuit Foundation and how we have already helped a few of your furry friends.

Buttons

Several years ago an elderly gentleman needed to board his 15 year old white male poodle named Buttons, while he had surgery for a knee replacement anticipating a week or so recovery time. Due to complications following the surgery, the gentleman felt he could not properly care for Buttons. With little family around to help, he felt overwhelmed and saddened by the fact that he may have to give him up. Pampered Pets took Buttons in and he became part of our family, upon a vet visit, it was revealed to us that Buttons had a grade 5 heart murmur and was placed on medication and did great. The little guy was so entertaining with his expressions and the way he strutted around like the king of the kennel. Buttons blessed us with 2 more wonderful, funny years before his passing on February 2 1, 2OO6. His owner was grateful to know that Buttons was happy and well taken care of until the end.

Baby

An elderly lady had just recently lost her spouse of many years. The apartment complex she lived at did allow pets, but on her income alone she could not afford to stay there. She was distraught at the idea of having to give up her and her husband's "baby". She called Pampered Pets and immediately we took her Dachshund in. After we all shed a fair amount of tears, the lady left reassured their Baby would only be placed in the best home. Word got around and a heartbroken person who had just lost her poodle of 17 years came to see her. Needless to say, after one look at her she was not leaving that "baby". This story has a great ending. This person had the resources to take absolutely wonderful care of her new Baby and she is to this day spoiled rotten. The new owner would take her by at times to visit the lady that had to give her up. She was so thankful, that tears of joy ran down her face, just remember, where one door closes, another opens!

Lady-Boo

Lady-Boo is a 14 year old Chihuahua mix. Her owner, 80 years young, had experienced a nasty fall which resulted in a fractured hip. Although surgery was not necessary, rehabilitation and physical therapy services were needed. Living on social security and a limited income, who would care for Lady -Boo was a major concern for her owner. A family member contacted Pampered Pets and explained the situation they were up against. Providing care for Lady-Boo at a reduced rate through The Biscuit Foundation proved to be a welcoming alternative for the family and the owner. Lady-Boo has been fostered and cared for by Robin Sheppard, a Biscuit Foundation board member. Her days are filled with strolls, lying in the sun and taking midday naps and getting all the attention. She has been surrounded by love and eagerly awaits her owner's recovery. Knowing Lady-Boo is happy and loved gives her owner the strength to concentrate on getting better and not stressing over her four-legged baby at this critical time in her life.
